The 6th annual conference for the
Center for Sociocultural Sport and Olympic Research (CSSOR)
California State University, Fullerton (USA)
March 14-15, 2024

Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Akilah Carter-Francique, Benedict College

The CSSOR Program Committee welcomes high quality academic work on sport studies topics such as race, gender, politics, legacy, youth, or disability. Proposed research papers focusing on broader sociocultural topics within sport are welcomed in addition to research specifically addressing the Olympic Movement. Scholars in the fields of history, philosophy, management, communication, ancient and modern languages, literature, visual and performing arts, anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, economics, marketing, and law are encouraged to submit proposals or attend the conference. Proposals should fit in one of two categories:

  1. Proposals for individual papers: (20-minute presentation time) which the program committee will then group into appropriate sessions.
  2. Proposals for complete thematic sessions: 95 minutes – typically composed of 3 presenters at 20 minutes each, a 20-minute commentary, and 15-minute discussion. Sessions containing four thematically connected papers may also be submitted. Proposals for complete sessions are strongly encouraged.

Abstracts for proposed individual papers should be no more than 500 words in length and describe the focus of the paper, relevant methodology or evidence (if applicable), include several keywords, and contain the author’s/co-authors’ institution and contact details. The deadline for submission for all types of presentations is Monday, December 4, 2023. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL PROPOSALS TO: trider@fullerton.edu

Authors will be sent notifications about their paper’s potential inclusion from the Program Committee in mid-December. The Program Committee will evaluate all submissions according to their individual merit, contribution to the field, fit within the total program, and available space.
